Mumbai, June 21: A shocking case of sextortion has come to light from Mumbai's neighbouring Thane, where the police arrested a woman for allegedly extorting Rs 4.39 crore from a retired bank CEO. Police officials said that the accused woman threatened to defame the victim by making their relationship public and filing a false rape case against him. The victim is a 66-year-old retired CEO of a bank a resident of Navi Mumbai resident.
In his complaint, the victim told cops that he met the woman, a resident of Thane, through a mutual contact when she visited the bank's branch in Wadala, reports TOI. During their meeting, the woman told the victim she wanted a loan as she was stuck in financial duress. However, the bank found out that the documents submitted by her were not complete. As per the loan procedure, the bank surveyed her house in Anand Nagar at Kopri in Thane. As per the FIR, in 2017, when the victim, who was the bank's CEO, went to the accused's room to check her documents after she requested, she forced herself on him. It is also reported that the accused woman had physical relations with the victim with his consent.
After the incident, the bank granted the woman a five-year loan of Rs 3 lakh. However, a month after the alleged incident, the woman threatened the victim of sharing nude photos of him with his family and colleagues, which he had shared with her on WhatsApp. The woman allegedly demanded Rs 8 crore not to share the victim's nude photos. However, from 2017 to 2023, the victim paid Rs 4.39 crore in 108 instalments to the accused woman. Amid all of this, the victim sold his flat, withdrew money from his provident fund, and even took loans to meet the woman's demands. As the woman demanded more money, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint against her.
The woman was arrested after the police laid a trap following her demand of Rs 5 lakh from the victim. Meanwhile, the police are investigating the case to determine if the woman invested the money and f anyone else was involved with her the sextortion racket.
