Tenali, September 7: Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested three women in Tenali district after uncovering a series of cyanide poisoning murders. The accused—Rajni, Venkateshwari, and Ramanamma—have confessed to killing at least four people, including three women, since 2022.
NDTV reported that the trio's method involved befriending their victims, gaining their trust, and then offering them drinks laced with cyanide to rob them of their valuables. Madiyala Venkateshwari, one of the accused, has a criminal history, including involvement in cybercrimes during her time abroad. According to the police, the women obtained cyanide through an acquaintance, an AC mechanic, who sourced it from gold jewelry makers.
The case has drawn chilling parallels to the infamous Kerala cyanide murders, where a woman killed six members of her husband’s family over 14 years using the same deadly poison. Police are continuing to investigate the scope of the trio's activities, suspecting that more crimes may be linked to the group.
