Hyderabad, June 23: Tragedy struck as an 18-year-old youth tragically lost his life while trying to take a selfie on the low-level bridge cum weir or check dam situated at the Kantathmakur tank in Nadikuda Mandal in Telangana's Hanumakonda. The incident occurred on Thursday. The deceased youth was an engineering student. He had gone to the place with his friends to relax and enjoy nature.

According to the report published by the Times of India, the youth was identified as Mohammad Ismail, a B.Tech (CSE) first-year student of KITS, Warangal. The reports said that Ismail slipped and fell into the water. The incident occurred while Ismail and two other students from KITS were visiting the tank. As per sources, the group had visited the scenic location with the intention of taking a selfie. Sadly, the excursion took a tragic twist when Ismail slipped and fell into the water, leading to the unfortunate incident. Despite the quick response of his friends in attempting to rescue him, their efforts proved futile as Ismail had already drowned. An extensive search operation was conducted, following which the police recovered his body and transferred it to MGM Hospital for postmortem examination. According to the reports, Ismail was a native of the Subedari locality in Hanmakonda, while the two others were identified as residents of Kazipet. In another incident, a 15-year-old girl died after falling from the fourth-floor terrace of her house in Sector 11 in Noida on June 5. Police said the girl was reclining on the terrace railing to take a selfie when she lost her balance and fell. The deceased was a class 9 student at a branch of Delhi Public School. Her father works in a factory in Phase-1, Noida, and she lives with her parents and younger brother on the ground floor of a four-storey building in Sector 11, the police added.
