Pune, April 1: A recent case of theft from the automated teller machine (ATM), thieves broke open and robbed an SBI ATM in Thergaon on Saturday and took away cash worth Rs 15.94 lakh. Initial reports state that the incident took place at around 1.30 am and the gas-cutter machine was used to break open the cash holding unit of both the devices.
Briefing more about the incident, police stated that the thieves robbed cash worth Rs 15.94 lakh and destroyed cash worth Rs 3 lakh which is in addition to the Rs 15.94 lakh, as they used a gas-cutter machine, reports the Hindustan Times. Earlier, in a similar incident in 2018, about five robbers cut open an SBI ATM and looted Rs 18 Lakh in Udaipur. The robbers had used the gas cutters to open the ATM to carry out the robbery and took away with the cash. The robbers managed to flee as they wore masks and carried out the robbery late at night.
