Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to unveil the world's tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the 'Statue of Unity', today at Kevadiya in Narmada district of Gujarat. The statue is 182 meters tall dedicated to Iron man of India. Built at a cost of Rs 2,389 crore, the statue depicts Sardar Patel wearing a traditional dhoti and shawl. The project took five years for competition and involved collection of one iron-made agricultural tool from every household with the village-to-village campaign. Here are the 5 things you need to know about the Statue of Unity:

  1. The Statue of Unity is twice the height of Statue of Liberty which stands at 93 metres in New York and is four times of statue of the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.

  2. The original height of Sardar Patel's monument is 240 metres including the base.

  3. A 30 feet replica of the Statue of Unity was inaugurated at Baben village of Gujarat's Bardoli district.

  4. Some of the major attractions near the Statue of unity is a 17-km-long Valley of flowers and a museum dedicated to the life of Sardar Patel.

  5. The statue is created by one of the most renowned sculptor, Ram Vanji Sutar, who is 91- year-old and has given India more than 8,000 sculptures.

The online bookings have been started, one can visit www.soutickets.in to book tickets. The monument can be visited between 9 am and 6 pm. The statue was built in just 33 months, by more than 3000 workers, including 300 engineers from infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
