Kolkata, May 27: A day after CBI issued a lookout notice for former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in the Saradha Chit Fund scam case, the probing agency is unwilling to give an extension to him on Monday. The sessions court in Kolkata had asked him to appear before the bench today, which Kumar skipped.

According to the latest updates, Kumar in his plea to the Barasat sessions court had sought a 7-day extension to appear before the bench, but CBI seems to be in no mood to give that relaxation to him. It is to be noted that CBI even carried out a search operation at Kumar’s house last evening. Along with this, the probing team searched the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Park Street area of the city. As per the lookout notice, the former Kolkata police commissioner cannot leave the country without prior permission from the court. He is one of the prime accused in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam case. Kumar's request for extension of his protection of arrest was dismissed by the Supreme Court. It ended on May 24.

It is to be known that The investigation in the Saradha chit fund scam began in 2014, where over 1.7 million depositors were duped to the extent of Rs 3,500 crore.
