Chandigarh, October 10: The Hisar town in Haryana has turned into a fortress with heavy police cover deployed in view of the pronouncement of verdict in a murder case involving self-styled godman Sant Rampal as the accused.

The Indian Railways has diverted the movement of trains towards Hisar in a bid to prevent the mobilisation of Rampal supporters in the town. Nearly 1,000 of his followers have already thronged the region ahead of the verdict. Delhi 'Godman' Arrested For Allegedly Raping 24-Year-Old School Teacher, Two Women Also Taken Into Custody.

Rampal, along with 14 others, was put on trial in a case dating back to November 2014. The hearing was completed on Wednesday, with the sessions court stating that the judgement would be announced on October 11.

Hisar Superintendent of Police Shiv Charan said the administration has taken elaborate arrangements in view of any possible outcome. The supporters of Rampal would not be allowed to vitiate the state of law and order if the verdict is issued against the godman, he said.

On August 29 last year, Rampal was acquitted in two major cases by the Hisar court. The godman, who was accused of illegally confining devotees in his ashram in November 2014, along with rioting with the police in the same period, was relieved of the twin charge.
