Kolkata, August 26: Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the Kolkata Doctor Rape and Murder Case, confessed to visiting the red light areas of Kolkata and molesting another woman there during a lie-detector or polygraph test. Roy, who was undergoing a polygraph test for the alleged rape and murder of the 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor on August 9, admitted to committing the molestation while recounting the events of the night of August 8.

In his confession, Sanjay Roy told the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that he went to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to inquire about the health of his friend's brother on August 8. On his way back with his friend, they purchased alcohol, got drunk on the road and visited two red light areas in Kolkata - Sonagachi and Chetla. Claiming they did not avail the services of a sex-worker in the red light areas, Sanjay Roy confessed that he molested a woman on his way to Chetla. This molestation act was reportedly caught on surveillance cameras installed nearby. Sanjay Roy further added in his confession that while his friend had sex with a woman in Chetla, he video-called his girlfriend, asking her for her nude photos, which she allegedly sent. It is after this that both Roy and his friend went to the RG Kar Hospital's Trauma Centre on the fourth floor. Roy then entered the seminar hall on the third floor at around 04:03 AM, as captured in the closed- circuit television or CCTV cameras. The Kolkata Doctor Rape and Murder Accused admitted to sexually assaulting the doctor resting in the hall after strangling her. The accused fled the crime scene and took refuge in his cop friend Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Anupam Dutta's house, as claimed by Roy. CBI sources have established Roy and his friend's presence, in concurrence with the latter's confession, at all the locations he mentioned.
