Kolkata, September 2: In his initial conversation with lawyer Kavita Sarkar at Presidency Jail, Sanjay Roy, the primary accused in the rape and murder of an RG Kar Medical College and Hospital doctor, declared his intention to plead "not guilty" in court. He reaffirmed his innocence, stating that he had maintained this position during the polygraph examination.

According to a report by the Times of India, Sanjay Roy was asked 10 questions in his polygraph examination. The questionnaire also included his next acts after committing the murder. Roy, in a conversation with his lawyer, maintained that he was being framed, insisting he did not know the victim. He recounted that upon entering the room, he discovered the woman covered in blood and fled in a panic. Roy, who is being kept in a high-security part of Presidency Jail, has mostly stayed alone. Jail officials have noticed he seems anxious and fearful when he talks. He had a long conversation with his lawyer under strict security. CBI officers think Roy is trying to mislead the investigation, but his lawyers believe CCTV footage can prove his side of the story and show possible security failures.

Roy's lawyer, appointed by the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System, said that the CBI hasn't shared any case details or provided a free copy of the FIR. Instead, they’ve had to get a certified copy from the court.
