Kolkata, September 11: Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, is under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for corruption linked to the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor. In addition, Ghosh faced allegations of molesting a male nursing student in Hong Kong in 2017. A male nursing student at Queen Elizabeth Hospital accused Ghosh of patting his buttocks and attempting to touch his genitals in a changing room.
Reports say that, in 2017, a year before Sandip Ghosh became the principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in 2018, he was accused of sexual molestation by a male nursing student in Hong Kong. The student claimed that Ghosh patted his buttocks and attempted to touch his genitals in a changing room, according to The South China Morning Post. As speaking to India Today, Some doctors in Kolkata confirmed That Sandip Ghosh, accused of molesting a male nursing student in Hong Kong in 2017, is the same individual now in CBI custody in connection with the rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. However, In court, Ghosh denied the molestation allegations, asserting that he was misunderstood. He explained that he was demonstrating how to treat a dislocated shoulder by pulling on the nurse's arm and inadvertently touching the nurse's hip. Ghosh clarified that his remark was meant to be instructional, saying, "Do it like this," rather than implying, "Do you like it?"
Ghosh's defence was supported by his supervisor at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, who presented an MRI scan showing Ghosh had a dislocated shoulder, which could explain his demonstration of the realignment technique. The City Court accepted this explanation and acquitted him. As a result of the molestation case, Ghosh's two-month clinical exchange program was cancelled, and he had to return to India.
