Mumbai, August 13: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday conducted more raids and has seized bombs and guns from Mumbai's Nala Sopara area. According to a tweet by ANI, five country-made pistols, three partially country-made pistols, 11 nine mm cartridges have been seized among other arms and ammunition. Moreover, the squad has also recovered one laptop, six hard discs, nine mobile phones among other things from Pune. An investigation into the matter has been initiated.

The raid on Monday comes days after a team of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad raided a house and a shop in Nala Sopara and apprehended Vaibhav Raut, a member of a "cow protection" outfit called the "Hindu Govansh Raksha Samiti". The ATS conducted raids at his house in Bhandar Aali in Nala Sopara and recovered explosives among other arms and ammunition.

Raut is suspected right-wing Sanatan Sanstha activist, members of which are accused in bomb blast cases in Navi Mumbai and Goa, and killings of rationalists.

According to a report by PTI, Maharashtra Congress president Ashok Chavan on Friday had alleged that the recovery of explosives from Raut's house and shop showed that the Sanatan Sanstha was planning to create a major disturbance in the society. Chavan had claimed that Raut was a member of the Sanatan Sanstha through his outfit and that he was seen at various meetings and press conferences of the right-wing group.
