Lucknow, July 4: In an unusual incident, two cousin sisters in Uttar Pradesh got married to each other against their family's wishes. Reports inform that the incident came to light after the duo posted a photograph of their marriage on the social media. According to a report by IANS, the incident which took place in Varanasi is probably the first same sex marriage in the holy city. The bizarre incident, however, sent shock waves across the state.

The report states that both the girls are residents of Rohaniya. They reached a Shiva temple on Wednesday and asked the priest to perform their marriage.  The report further states that while the priest declined their request, the girls refused to budge, staying inside the temple till he finally agreed. By the time the marriage was solemnised, a huge crowd had gathered at the temple premises. However, the girls left from the temple premises before any untoward incident could take place. As soon as the news spread, several locals criticised the priest for solemnising the marriage. After the priest was questioned, he revealed that one of the girls belongs to Kanpur and was staying with her cousin here to pursue studies. Gay Couple Hosts Reception in Mumbai.

Earlier this month, a similar incident was reported from Rajasthan, where a woman went missing 23 days after her marriage. Reports said that a search operation was conducted after her husband, who lives in UP's Shahjahanpur, lodged a missing complaint. During the search, police found that she was living with her lesbian partner in Haryana, whom she was in a relationship since the last four years.
