Bathinda, September 21: Row has erupted over same-sex marriage in Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Sahib, located in Punjab’s Bathinda. Granthi who performed the marriage has now apologized. Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee has also taken strict action in this matter.
According to a report on TOI, in protest against this, the committee has given a complaint to the police to take action against Granthi Singh who got them married.Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has also formed an investigation committee at its level and started investigating the matter. As soon as the Sikh religious organizations came to know about this on Wednesday, they took serious notice of this matter and reached the Gurdwara Sahib and started action against the Granthi Singhs and the committee.
The Granthi reportedly said that he is ashamed and has offered an apology.
He said that even before this, at some other place, a girl had been sexually assaulted by another girl and there was no controversy at that time. That's why he got both of them married in Gurdwara Sahib. He said that the families of both the girls were also present on this occasion.
Though the granthi who had conducted the wedding has tendered an apology, but SAD(A) and Dal Khalsa are firm on taking action.
