Chennai, August 9: A woman's joy of giving birth to a baby boy in Tamil Nadu's Salem was short lived after another woman allegedly abducted the newborn child today, August 9. The woman abducted the five-day-old boy from the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College in Salem. Police officials said that a woman named Vennila had given birth to the baby boy in the hospital on August.
However, Vennila and her husband's joy were cut short when the newborn child was abducted in broad daylight from the hospital, reports TOI. The couple are said to be residents of Pallipalayam in Namakkal district. The incident occurred today, when a woman wearing a mask approached Vennila. The woman who was dressed in an dressed in an aqua-coloured sari told Vennila that her son's eyes appeared yellow. However, she became worried when the woman did not return with the child for a long time. Vennila and her relatives searched the entire hospital but could not find the woman nor the baby.
Post this, Vennila and her husband Thangadurai approached the police and lodged a complaint against the woman. Acting on their complaint, the police scanned the hospital's CCTV footage and even conducted an inquiry with the parents but could not find any lead. They are also going to check the CCTV footage of nearby areas of the hospital to help them narrow down on the suspect and solve the case.
