Lucknow, July 28: Six members of a family were killed as their residential building in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur city collapsed following a heavy spell of rain which has ravaged the state over the past two days.
The collapse was reported in the early hours of Saturday. The local administration has been rushed to the spot by the government. No reports so far, however, have claimed the presence of survivors underneath the debris.

Although the exact cause of collapse is yet to be ascertained, experts claim the heavy monsoon showers have wrecked several dilapidated structures across UP.
The Saharanpur house collapse is the fourth such incident in the past fortnight. On July 18, a twin-building collapses in Shahberi village of Greater Noida leaving nine dead. Subsequently, two more building collapses were also reported in Noida and Ghaziabad. However, no fatalities were recorded.
Meanwhile, heavy rains combined with thunderstorm and lightning have claimed 33 lives across UP. According to the data released by the State Disaster Management Authority, 6 were killed in Agra, 3 in Muzaffarnagar, 3 in Kasganj, 4 in Meerut, 4 in Mainpuri, 2 in Bareilly on July 26 and 27. During the same period, 1 death each was recorded in Kanpur Dehat, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Raebareli, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Firozabad, Bulandshahr and Amethi due to the heavy downpour.
