Bhopal, April 24: After a special NIA court turned down the application filed by the father of the victim of the Malegaon terror blast seeking to bar Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur from contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Bhopal said that the Indian National Congress (INC) has been continuously conspiring against her and "dharma always wins". Speaking to news agency ANI, Pragya Thakur said that the BJP will definitely win because truth and dharma always win. "Congress has been conspiring continuously but we will definitely win because truth and dharma always wins," Sadhvi Pragya Thakur said. Earlier today, Special NIA Judge Vinod Padalkar, while turning down the plea, said, "In present ongoing elections this court does not have any legal powers to prohibit anyone from contesting elections. It is the job of the electoral officers to decide. This court can't stop the accused from contesting elections. This application is negated by this court."
On Tuesday, BJP Bhopal candidate filed her nomination papers. Sadhvi Pragya is among the seven accused facing trial in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, wherein six people were killed and many others were injured when a bomb placed on a motorcycle exploded in Maharashtra's Malegaon on September 29, 2008.
