Nilakkal, October 19: Kavitha Jakkal of Hyderabad-based Mojo TV and woman activist Rehana Fatima are the women who tried and failed to enter the Sabarimala temple's sanctum sanctorum on Friday. Both the women, under- 50 years, stopped after the head priest of the shrine told that he will close the gates and stop all the rituals. After the Kerala IG, S Sreejith informed about the situation, both of them agreed to return.

Kavitha Jakkal, a 24-year-old journalist told reporters that she is 'very proud' for attempting to go Sabarimala Shrine. Kavita and Rehana were in a bulletproof jacket and were surrounded by nearly 300 police officials as they walked from Pamba to Sannidhanam. Earlier, Kavitha said that she will only return after Lord Ayyappa's darshan. Kerala Chief Minister had supported her statement and assured her full security. According to the mythology, women in their menstruating are not allowed to visit the Sabarimala shrine. Earlier on September 28, the Supreme Court ended the ban and allowed women of every age to enter the temple. After the historical verdict, the temple gates were opened on Wednesday which has caused a ruckus among the devotees who are against the court's verdict.
