The meeting was held to review the performance of the party in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. The entire incident was caught on camera. According to reports, local party leaders were thrashed by another group from within the party. Plastics chairs and abuses were also hurled at the local leaders. Earlier this month, BSP chief Mayawati blamed alliance with Samajwadi Party for election results in Uttar Pradesh.

In UP, the BJP won 62 Lok Sabha seats, while the SP-BSP alliance managed to win only 15 seats. Out of 15 seats, the BSP bagged only 10 seats. Review meeting of BSP to discuss election results of 2019 Lok Sabha elections was held on June 3. In the meeting, the decision was taken by the BSP to contest 11 assembly by-polls alone. Mayawati was of the opinion that the alliance with the Samajwadi Party did not yield results because the Akhilesh Yadav led party failed to cut into the Yadav votes.
