RTI Has Created an Atmosphere of Fear & Paralysis, But Court is Not Against It, Says CJI SA Bobde

Talking about the violent clashes amid the CAA protests, the Supreme Court on Monday said that the apex court will hear all the pleas related to Jamia Milia Islamia clashes while issuing a stern warning to the students to stop the riots.

New Delhi, December 16: The Supreme Court observed that there is an atmosphere of fear and paralysis due to the Right to Information Act. CJI SA Bobde highlighted that the Apex Court is not opposed to RTI, but there is an urgent need for certain guidelines for providing information.

According to a Bar and Bench report, the presiding officer highlighted that because of the fear of RTI, many bureaucrats are not taking their decisions. However, advocate Prashant Bhushan informed the Court that those who are not corrupt, need not fear about RTI. But, the Court mentioned that it has become a trend these days to identify themselves as RTI activists. CJI Office Comes Under RTI Act, Rules Supreme Court.
