New Delhi, December 1: Demanding an ordinance for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Saturday started a 10-day 'Sankalp Rath Yatra' in the national capital. Though the Supreme Court would hear the matter in January 2019, RSS aims to put pressure on the Union government for a decision on the construction of the temple at the disputed site.

According to the information, the rath yatra is spearheaded by the economic wing of the Sangh - Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) and will include all RSS affiliates. The 10-day rath yatra will begin from Jhandewala Mandir and culminate on December 9 at Ramlila Maidan. Briefing more about the rath yatra, SJM leader Sushil Panchak said, as reported by the Financial Express, “We are part of the family and we stand with our family. We are taking out this rath yatra to press for Ram Mandir. It will kick off at 11.30 am from Jhandewalan Mandir. It will be flagged-off by Delhi Prant Sanghchalak Kulbhushan Ahuja.”

With the success of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)’s massive rally in Ayodhya, RSS has planned an event in Delhi on December 9. For this around 10,000 buses to ferry people from Meerut, Braj and Haryana have been booked. As per the party’s expectation, around five Lakh people are most likely to attend the event – Dharam Sabha.

Deferring the hearing of the disputed site in Ayodhya, the apex court in November set the new date for the case – scheduled in January 2019. Due to this, various BJP leaders and Sandh Parivar members have demanded that an ordinance, or enacting a law in the Winter Session of the Parliament be done, so that the Ram Temple is built before 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
