While Congress President Rahul Gandhi termed it as a loss of 'valuable Congress family member'. The 66-year-old Rebel star passed away on Saturday night after suffering cardiac arrest at Bengaluru's Vikram Hospital. Congress president Rahul Gandhi while condoling Ambareesh's death said, "In the passing of Ambareesh Ji, the Congress family has lost a valuable member. He was a famous son of Karnataka, whose work as an actor & and in politics, won him a huge following both in the state & across India. My condolences to his family and friends in this time of grief".
The real name of Ambareesh is Malavalli Huchche Gowda Amarnath, but his popular films earned him the title of ‘Rebel Star’ and ‘Mandyada Gandu’. He was born in Mandya District's Doddarasinakere Village on 29 May 1952.
Meanwhile, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy visited the Kanteerava stadium to pay homage to the mortal remains of the renowned actor. Former PM H.D. Devegowda and Smt. Chennamma too paid their last respects to the actor. Later, they met his wife Sumalatha and son Abhishek.
