Chandigarh, Sep 16: The Haryana Police on Sunday arrested two men- a doctor and the owner of the tube-well and nabbed the key accused in the alleged gang rape of a young woman from Rewari. Ten teams have been formed under a Special Investigation Team (SIT), to probe the Rewari gangrape case. Nuh Superintendent of Police (SP) Naazneen Bhasin informed that within 30 hours the SIT has arrested two people - Deen Dayal and Dr Sanjeev while the main accused Nishu has been nabbed and he is on his way.

Bhasin informed that one other accused of the rape case who is an Army personnel is absconding but assured that he will be arrested soon. She further added saying that Deen Dayal is owner of the tube-well and it's proved that he knew for which activity this place was about to be used. "On basis of mobile forensics, it's proved that Nishu contacted him to inform that they need a room. It was all pre-planned", the SP said.

Giving further information about the arrests, Bhasin said Deen Dayal is the owner of a tube-well where the incident took place while Sanjeev is a doctor who was found to be involved, as per all police evidence. "The main accused Nishu, had pre-planned this and then called the doctor to the spot later", she was quoted by ANI.

Adding further Bhasin said that Dr. Sanjeev’s involvement is proved as it was in his knowledge that the girl was held by three boys and she was not conscious about the things happening. "He was part of the plan till the end & he didn’t inform any authority", Bhasin added.

To recall, the 19-year-old woman, a school topper from Rewari who had been felicitated by the government, was abducted at a bus stop in Kanina town in neighbouring Mahendragarh district earlier this week while she was on the way to a coaching class. Police said she was allegedly drugged and gang-raped at a room housing a tubewell for irrigation.

According to a report by PTI, the victim's family alleged that police had failed to take prompt action on their complaint and delayed action by citing jurisdiction issue between police units of Rewari and Mahendergarh districts. Rewari Superintendent of Police Rajesh Duggal, who has been accused of failing to take prompt action, has been shunted out and will be replaced by the SP of chief minister's security, Rahul Sharma, they said. Duggal will now lead a battalion of Haryana Armed Police in Hisar.
