Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami will remain in jail as the Bombay High Court on Monday rejected his bail plea.
Mumbai, November 9: Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami will remain in jail as the Bombay High Court on Monday rejected his bail. Pronouncing its orders on Arnab Goswami's bail application, a division bench comprising Justices SS Shinde and MS Karnik directed him to approach the sessions court for regular bail. Goswami has already moved the sessions court at Alibaug for regular bail. The court also dismissed bail applications of two co-accused Nitish Sarada and Parveen Rajesh Singh. The bench held special sittings despite the High Court being shut for Diwali holidays, to hear arguments and pronounce the orders on the interim bail applications in the habeas corpus petitions filed by Goswami and two other accused. Goswami was arrested from his Mumbai residence on Wednesday in connection with the 2018 double-suicide case of an architect Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik. A local court in Alibaug had sent him to 14 days judicial custody till November 18.
Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik were found hanging at their Alibaug bungalow on May 5, 2018, leaving behind a suicide note, saying they committed suicide owing to unpaid dues from Goswami's Republic TV (Rs 83 lakh) and two other companies.
