Republic Day Parade 2020: Chinook, Apache Choppers to Flypast For the First Time, IAF Tableau to Showcase Five Missile Systems

According to a tweet by ANI, the IAF said that American-origin Chinook heavy-lift choppers and Apache attack choppers of the Air Force will be taking part in the parade for the first time this year. Moreover, the IAF Tableau will showcase scaled down models of 5 systems.

New Delhi, January 13: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will see the participation of 41 aircraft during the Republic Day parade 2020. According to a tweet by ANI, the IAF said that American-origin Chinook heavy-lift choppers and Apache attack choppers of the Air Force will flypast in the parade for the first time this year. Moreover, the IAF Tableau will showcase scaled down models of 5 systems. The Tableau will include recent addition to inventory Rafale aircraft, indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft and Light Combat Helicopter, Surface to Air Guided Weapon Aakash Missile system and the Astra Missiles.

This year, the Indian Navy in its tableau this year will displays Navy’s might and firepower in three dimensions of surface, sub-surface and air. The tableau, which was unveiled last week, is in pursuance of the Navy Week’s theme ‘Indian Navy – Silent, Strong, and Swift’. It conveys the commitment of the force to ‘Make in India’ initiative of the government.

This year, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will see its tableau for the first time. The tableau will depict NDRF's humanitarian efforts during catastrophes such as cyclones and floods, rolling down the Rajpath for the first time this Republic Day Parade. The force was raised in 2006 for specific tasks of relief and rescue during natural and man-made disasters or similar life-threatening situations.
