Shaheen Bagh has emerged as the epicentre of anti-CAA stir, with protesters laying a siege in the region since December 15. The Shaheen Bagh protests has also turned into a poll issue in Delhi, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah blaming the state-ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of extending tacit support to the demonstrators. Shah, while addressing a gathering on Sunday, said Delhi should vote for the BJP to get rid of the traffic jams being caused due to "protests like Shaheen Bagh".
The Shaheen Bagh protesters have vowed to remain unmoved till the Centre does not retracts from its citizenship project. The CAA, which grants citizenship to all non-Muslim refugees who entered India till 2014, is being viewed by the protesters through the prism of proposed nationwide NRC.
