New Delhi, August 5: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a 'red alert', also known as high alert, in the entire Delhi Metro network in the wake of recent development related to Jammu and Kashmir and the forthcoming Independence Day on August 15. The government, on Monday, moved to revoke Article 370 in Rajya Sabha. Article 370 Revoked, Jammu and Kashmir Bifurcated Into Two Union Territories: PM Narendra Modi Likely to Address Nation on August 7.

In a tweet, DMRC said, "Security Alert, As advised by security agencies, a red alert has been imposed on the entire DMRC network. Please allow extra time in security checks." Article 370 Revocation: Arvind Kejriwal Backs Modi Government On Jammu And Kashmir Move.

To ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the rail network that operates across the Nation Capital Region (NCR), commuters have to pass through additional security checks by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at metro stations.

Around 28 lakh suburbanites use Delhi Metro Rail Network (DMRC) daily to reach destinations in Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gurgaon. Additional CISF personnel, counter-terror teams and security equipment have been inducted to ensure the safety of passengers.

On Monday, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah announced that the Central government has moved to revoke Article 370. Shah also said that J&K will be bifurcated into two union territories- Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
