Bhopal, May 23: Congress district president of Madhya Pradesh’ Sehore district Ratan Singh Thakur died of a heart attack. Thakur was present at one of the counting centres in the Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency when he suffered the heart attack. According to reports, the Congress leader was immediately rushed to the district hospital, where he failed to recover. According to the latest trends, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha Constituency Pragya Singh Thakur is leading with close to 50,000 votes over his closest rival Digvijaya Singh who contested on the Congress ticket. Bhopal has been a BJP stronghold since 1991. Alok Sanjar of the BJP won the 2014 Lok Sabha election from the Bhopal seat. Sanjar had defeated PC Sharma (Prakash Mangilal Sharma) of the Congress on this seat and is the sitting MP from Bhopal.
Narendra Modi is all set to return as Prime Minister of the country for the second consecutive term. The BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) appears to be advancing towards victory. At present, the NDA is leading on 344 seats, while the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is having a lead on 86 seats. The Others are also ahead on 112 seats.
