Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid Case Verdict: Security Heightened in Ayodhya Ahead of Supreme Court Judgment

Lucknow, November 8: Ahead of probable verdict in Ayodhya land case, security has been heightened in Ayodhya and its surrounding areas. As the Supreme Court's verdict in the Ayodhya case is expected any day now, officials have been conducting surveillance with drones in Nayaghat, Nageswarnath, Ram ki Paidi, Hanumankupa road and some areas of Ayodhya in order to maintain law and order before and after the expected judgment. Reports inform that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has also dispatched around 4,000 paramilitary personnel for security deployment in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Ayodhya. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said two helicopters will be on standby in Lucknow and Ayodhya as part of the security. Meanwhile, Section 144 has been imposed in Ayodhya district till December 10 in anticipation of the verdict in the matter. On Friday, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi is slated to meet UP Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey and the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash Singh over preparedness ahead of the verdict in the decades-old Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit case which is expected later this month.

For 40 days from August to October, the Supreme Court held a day-to-day hearing on a batch of petitions challenging Allahabad High Court’s order trifurcating the 2.77 acres of the disputed land at Ayodhya into three equal parts to Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and Nirmohi Akhara. Reports inform that the judgment is expected to be pronounced before November 17, when Gogoi demits from office.
In the wake of the landmark verdict, the railway police on Thursday issued a seven-page advisory to all its zones giving them a slew of directions on security preparedness. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) advisory also said that leaves of all its personnel have been cancelled and they will be engaged in escorting trains, they said.
