Lucknow, August 10: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state will provide free rides to women on all the state transport corporation buses and city buses on August 15 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day. Swatantradev Singh, the Minister for State Transport (Independent Charge) has also directed concerned officials to make special arrangements for buses to facilitate the commuters to reach their destination on time. The state government will also arrange extra buses from August 13 to 18 for places, including Saharanpur, Delhi, Meerut, Moradabad, Agra, Lucknow, Bareilly, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur, along with other major cities.

Meanwhile, the Yogi government has cancelled the leaves of police officials and other related government departments till August 15, to maintain law and order during Raksha Bandhan 2019.
