Raksha Bandhan 2018: Women Cops in Gurugram to Tie Rakhi on Wrists of Traffic Violators

New Delhi, August 24: On the joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan, women police officers in Gurugram have decided to tie a rakhi on the wrist of people who violate traffic rules. According to a report by Hindustan Times, all women police officers and female RSOs (Road Safety Officers) in the city will participate in the amicable initiative and will spread awareness on road safety and traffic rules this Raksha Bandhan, which will be celebrated on Sunday.

Reports suggest that apart from tying a rakhi, the women police officers will also ask traffic violators to take a pledge to follow traffic rules in all circumstances. In the initiative called ‘Suraksha Bandhan’, the Gurugram Police and Road Safety Organisation will release videos shot by their staff, showing the women officers tying rakhi and spreading awareness about road safety.

The Gurugram Police had last year conducted a successful campaign on road safety. Even this year, the Gurugram Police and Road Safety Organisation, which is a non-profit organisation, continues to take the great initiative a step forward in a bid to make roads safer.

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated across the nation with religious fervour and gaiety with sisters tying a rakhi on their brother’s wrist. The festival of the brother-sister bond is celebrated with enthusiasm across India. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Delhi Division of the Indian Railways has planned a special gift for women and has decided to run special trains to help them travel safely.

The day, a celebration of love between the siblings will be made even more special with the Indian Railways' thoughtful gesture. With this, women will be able to reach their brothers in distant parts with ease and comfort.
