New Delhi, June 15: The Election Commission of India on Saturday announced the dates of the by-election in Bihar, Odisha and Gujarat. The by-elections would take place on July 5, 2019, for the six vacant seats. The vacancies occurred as some of the seat holders were elected to the Lok Sabha while some have tendered their resignations. Two seats of Rajya Sabha left vacant from Gujarat after Union Ministers Amit Shah and Smriti Irani won the Lok Sabha elections from Gandhinagar and Amethi. In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, which was held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 353 seats, including Bharatiya Janata Party's 303 seats. The Congress party won 52 seats, while Congress-led UPA won 91. While the remaining parties won 98 seats.
