Chennai, September 25: Defence Minister Rajnath commissioned the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Varaha in Chennai on Wednesday. ICGS Varaha is named after the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. During his media interaction after the investiture ceremony of the IGCS Varaha, Singh gave a stern warning to Pakistan. On Tuesday, the Defence Minister called for a 24x7 vigil, co-ordination and pro-active approach from all agencies in the Maritime domain to thwart any potential threats posed by "non-state" as well as "state-sponsored" terrorism. Rajnath Singh Commissioning ICGS Varaha:

The ICGS Varaha would be based at New Mangalore port under the administrative and operational control of Commander Coast Guard Region (west). According to the ICG, the ship will have onboard 14 officers and 89 men. It is equipped with the latest navigation and communication equipment. It also has some of the most advanced sensors and machinery including a 33 mm gun.
