New Delhi, December 26: A day after the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was vandalised in Punjab's Ludhiana, the Rajiv Chowk street signboard in the national capital was blackened on Wednesday. According to reports, workers of Akali Dal have admitted to the vandalism act. The incident comes during the ongoing anti- Congress protest in the national capital.

On Tuesday, Rajiv Gandhi's statue was vandalised in Ludhiana by two youths, who Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh claimed, owed allegiance to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). The accused allegedly sprayed red and black paint on the statue at the Salem Tabri area in Ludhiana, the police said. They also carried out the act in full public glare and blamed Rajiv Gandhi for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the police added.
