Rajasthan: Woman’s Nose Chopped With Sharp-Edged Weapon Over Family Tiff, Accused Booked

Jaipur, December 30: In a shocking incident, a woman’s nose was chopped off over a family dispute in Rajasthan’s Barmer district on Saturday. The victim identified as Puro Devi is a resident of Genaniyon Ka Tala of Dhudhu village and was married to Bheraram Jat. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Puro had married off her daughter with Deramaram Jat, a resident of Lukhu village four years back. However, her daughter returned home a few months later due to some family dispute with her in-laws.

The report informs that Puro again married off her daughter in Bachdau village just three months back. After Puro’s daughter’s previous in-laws came to know about her second marriage, they attacked Puro’s family on Friday night and chopped off Puro’s nose with a sharp-edged weapon. As soon as the incident was reported, police rushed to the spot and the injured were taken to a primary health centre. Puro condition is now stable. On account of Puro’s statement, police have lodged a case against two accused under sections 307 and 458 of IPC.

Superintendent of police in Barmer, Rahul Bareth was quoted in the report saying that after the case was lodged, efforts are being made to nab the accused. Bareth said they are waiting for Puro’s health to improve so that her statement could be recorded and further investigation can be conducted.
