Jaipur, May 18: In a shocking incident in Rajasthan, a man allegedly killed his three-year-old son in a village in Dungarpur district late Friday night. The police suspect the act could have been driven by superstitious beliefs.

TOI reported that the accused, Kanji Pargi, reportedly attacked his youngest son, Ayush, with a sharp knife while the toddler was asleep beside his mother in their thatched house at Kuan village. The child suffered wounds on his neck and other parts of his body. Pargi then fled the scene, leaving behind his lifeless son. The mother, after failing to save her son, stayed beside his body throughout the night until the police were informed by a villager early Saturday morning. “The dead child’s mother told police that her husband, Kanji Pargi, killed their youngest son, Ayush, by attacking him with a sharp knife and fled,” said Sunil Chawla, the in-charge of Kuan police station. Haryana Shocker: Woman Strangles Eight-Year-Old Son to Death in Gurugram, Arrested.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police found the little boy’s body lying on a cot in their house, with bloodstains visible on the ground. A grave had also been dug in the courtyard of Pargi’s house, indicating that the murder may have been premeditated rather than a spontaneous act of anger. “It is possibly linked to superstitious beliefs,” added Chawla.

Sandeep Singh, the DySP of Simalwada police station, who also visited the crime scene, mentioned that the mother of the deceased boy was deeply traumatised by the incident and was unable to provide useful details to the police. Singh spoke to her other four children and several villagers about the murder.

“The accused father has been detained. We are currently interrogating him. The motive behind this murder remains unclear at this moment,” said Singh.
