Jaipur, June 03: In a shocking incident, a resident doctor was seen thrashing a patient. According to news agency ANI, the incident took place at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur on Sunday. In the video which went viral on social media, the resident wearing a blue shirt and surgical mask can be seen beating the patient. The doctor slapped the patient multiple times. He even climbed to the bed to thrash the patient. After some time, another doctor intervened and took the doctor away. The Rajasthan government has taken cognisance of the incident. Health Minister of Rajasthan Raghu Sharma reacting on the controversy said, “We have asked for a report on the video as to what really happened.”
Earlier, many incidents were reported where doctors had been thrashed by kin of patients. In May this year, two resident doctors including a woman were allegedly beaten up by a patient's relatives at the state-run J J Hospital in Mumbai. Police registered a case against five people.
