Jaipur, November 13: In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old girl, who was sold for Rs 7 lakh in Rajasthan by her father, was found by the Hyderabad Police on Monday. Reports inform that the victim’s father had sold her in Barmer district in June this year. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the girl's father and two others were arrested in July after the minor was found missing. The report adds that Gopa Ram Mali, Sanwla Ram Daspa (to whom the girl was sold) and girl’s father were arrested in July first week. Police informed that the more two people were arrested on the charges of kidnapping her. The report quotes Siwana police station SHO Daud Khan said the girl is four months pregnant.
Barmer superintendent of police Sharad Choudhary was quoted in the HT report saying that the police officials recovered the girl with two accused and was brought her to Barmer on Tuesday. “She has been given to her mother. We will produce her in the high court on November 15,” Choudhary said. It was on June 30, that a man had registered a case of kidnapping and extortion when his niece went missing. In his complaint, the man informed that on June 22, the middleman Mali told his brother, the girl’s father, that he had fixed the girl’s wedding in a reputed family. Giving details about the incident, the complainant informed that the uncle said his brother took his daughter to Siwana for a proposed meeting with the groom’s family. However, when he returned, she was not with him, following which he said he had dropped her at her maternal uncle’s house.
The HT report further adds that on June 26, the family found that the girl was not at the maternal uncle’s house. Following this, the girl’s father said several men had kidnapped her after. The family then registered an FIR.
