Jaipur, August 23: Heavy rains in the past two days have wreaked havoc in several areas in Rajasthan. Flooding was reported in many parts including Dausa, where an incident of a school bus carrying students being stuck on a flooded underpass in Lalsot Subdivision was reported. The students climbed on top of the bus to save themselves.

Dausa has been receiving continuous rains since last night, leading to flooded streets.

On Wednesday, five sluice gates of the Kota barrage were opened to release excess water into the Chambal river after heavy rains lashed eastern parts of Rajasthan, officials said.

The gates of the barrage were opened for three hours due to heavy rain and water inflow, a Kota Irrigation Department official said.

In 24 hours from Tuesday till Wednesday, Galiakot in Dungarpur district and Loharia of Banswara district recorded 19 cm rainfall each, a meteorological (Met) department official said.
