Jaipur, January 4: As the death toll of infant deaths in Kota mounted to 107 on Saturday, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot said that there is no point in blaming the previous Government's misdeed and that accountability should be fixed in the state. Taking a dig at Chief Minister Ashok Ghelot, Pilot said, "I think our response to this could have been more compassionate and sensitive. After being in power for 13 months I think it serves no purpose to blame the previous Govt's misdeeds". He also visited Kota's JK Lon Hospital, where over 100 newborns have died in a month.

On Saturday,  Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla met the kin of infants who lost their lives in JK Lon Hospital in Kota. Birla also stated he has written twice to Gehlot suggesting various steps to improve medical facilities. Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to Chief Secretary of Rajasthan to submit a detailed report within 4 weeks about the steps being taken to address the issue.
