The Ravana effigy burning took place in Malpura in Tonk district on Wednesday early morning. According to an ANI update, the function was delayed due to stone pelting by miscreants during Dussehra procession on Tuesday after which the locals went on a protest.

According to an ANI update, the function was delayed due to stone pelting by miscreants during Dussehra procession on Tuesday after which the locals went on a protest. Curfew has now been imposed in the area and the internet is shut. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to keep a control on any untoward incident.
In another incident, India's tallest Ravana effigy with a height of 221 feet was constructed in Chandigarh at an outlay of Rs 50 lakh, went up in flames on Tuesday to mark the Dussehra festival. It was erected on city's outskirts in Dhanas. Eco-friendly crackers were used in the effigy and the 7,000 kg effigy was crafted by a team of 40 workers for over six months. Prime Minister Narendra Modi burnt the effigy of Ravana at DDA Ground in New Delhi’s Dwarka. PM Modi shot at the effigy with a bow and an arrow during the Dussehra celebrations after which the effigy was set on fire.
