Jaipur, May 29: After a spate of rape cases within a month shook Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday convened a high-level meeting with officials. In the meeting, it was decided that an FIR can be lodged at SP's office, if a police station refuses to register an FIR in connection with any case. The CM also directed that a departmental inquiry be done in connection with all the cases where a police station refuses to register FIR. In a few months, a number of rapes cases were reported from the state.

Last month, a woman was allegedly gang-raped in front of her her husband in Rajasthan's Alwar district. The accused not only thrashed the victim's husband but also filmed the crime and uploaded the clip on social media. Several cases of rape and molestation of women have been registered following the Alwar gang-rape case. The BJP had recently submitted a list of atrocities against women to Governor Kalyan Singh, which cited 46 incidents of rape, including of minors, and murders. In the last five months, 12 gangrapes, and 20 rape cases have been registered in the state, including 8 minor victims. Two of these minor victims were murdered in Jaipur and Tonk.
