Rains Lash Delhi NCR; Waterlogging At Several; Reports of Traffic Jam In Parts Of Gurugram

New Delhi, August 28: Heavy rains lashed Delhi NCR in the early hours on Tuesday. Waterlogging is reported in various parts Delhi and Gurugram. Today’s rain gave respite to people by bringing the temperature down by a few degrees. According to reports, yesterday the temperature of Delhi was around 33 degrees, while after rains the temperature slipped to 26 degrees. The monsoon had hit Delhi on June 28.

Delhi Police issued alerts through its Twitter handle to avoid traffic congestion at waterlogged areas.  Heavy rain accompanied with lightning was reported around Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Teen Murti Bhavan and R.K. Puram among other areas. Some regions of Dhaula Kuan and Palam Mod were waterlogged following heavy rainfall.

Residents of the national capital have also shared images and videos of waterlogged roads.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted heavy rain at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim may also witness heavy showers. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is also predicted in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Konkan, Goa, Telangana and Coastal Karnataka on August 28.
