Mumbai, September 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra till Saturday. In its weather forecast, the IMD said, “Extremely heavy falls very likely at isolated places over Gujarat region.” It further added that heavy to very heavy rainfall can be expected at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, Saurashtra and Kutch. Mumbai Rains: BMC Makes Temporary Shelters For Those Stranded Amid Heavy Rainfall, Check List Here.

The weather forecasting agency also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places at South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala. Mumbai was battered by heavy rains on Wednesday. The maximum city came to a standstill due to waterlogging in the low lying areas. Vehicular movement was affected on Mumbai-Goa Highway, Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Ghodbunder Road, Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, Mumbai-Navi Mumbai Road, and other roads.

Local train services were also suspended between various stations.  According to reports, around 20 flights were cancelled and 280 affected. Schools were also closed in Mumbai on September 4, due to incessant rains. The weather forecasting agency also predicted rains in the next 48 hours in the maximum city.
