New Delhi, February 14: Moving ahead with the technology, Indian Railways (IR) will offer a jerk-free journey on 500 trains by March end. Passengers often travelling from Rajdhani, Duronto, Superfast, and Shatabdi trains had often complained of jery rides due to braking. According to senior Railway official, the IR will replace couplers on all Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. The old couplers will be replaced with modern couplers, which will ensure a smooth journey to the passengers. A coupler is a device which connects train coaches. The railway will install new Centre Buffer Coupler (CBC) with balanced draft gear. Indian Railways has Good News for Waiting List Passengers! A railway official earlier said that, "The new version of the CBC has high-capacity shock absorbers which ensure that jerks are not felt in case of braking and during acceleration, resulting in making the ride smoother for passengers."
Out of 12,000 LHB coaches, only 800 coaches are remaining to replace couplers. After the process is completed around 500 premium trains will witness reduced jerks. Meanwhile, IR is in process of replacing Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches with new LHB coaches. In the financial year 2019-2020, Railways will try to replace at least 120 old ICF coaches with LHBs.
