Alibaug, September 15: A Mumbai man was arrested on Friday on charges of killing his wife and concealing her body in a remote forest area located in Maharashtra's Raigad district, police said. The decomposed remains of a woman were found in Umberwadi, situated in Pali taluka, on September 9, officials said.

The initial reluctance of her spouse to acknowledge her identity raised suspicions among investigators. However, a breakthrough emerged when the victim's six-year-old son recognised the clothing discovered at the scene, confirming her identity. Pawar ultimately confessed to murdering his wife at Umberwadi before disposing of her body.

He has been arrested under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, along with other relevant provisions. The investigation into this incident continues as the authorities work to ascertain the motive and gather additional details surrounding the crime.
