Patna, October 8: The Bihar police on Monday seized mobile SIM cards, cannabis, mobile phones, tobacco, pornographic materials among other things from the prisoners. These items were impounded during the raids conducted by Bihar police in different jails. On being directed by Home Department Principal Secretary, Amir Subhani, the Bihar Police raided around 58 jails across the state. In order to maintain the integrity of the process, jail authorities were not informed about the raids. Puzhal Central Jail Prisoners in Tamil Nadu Found With Mobile Phones, TV Sets Removed from 'A' Class Wards of Jail.

Police Prison IG Mithilesh Mishra in a press release said a total of nine sim cards, 32 cell phones, 10 knives, 50.5 grams ganja and around 49,000 cash, besides other banned items was seized during the operation.

The jails where the inspections were carried out and items seized included Munger, Sitamarhi, Aurangabad Sasaram, Jehanabad, Motihari and the Central Jail, the release said.

Guilty jail officials will face disciplinary actions for the lapses that led entry of the banned items. The release also added that FIR will be lodged against the prisoners who were found with banned items.

Earlier last month, officials of Puzhal jail in Chennai removed television sets, FM Radio from its premises. Jail officials alleged that the prisoners were using it for charging their mobile phones which they sneaked inside the jail premises illegally.
