During the video-conversation with Rahul Gandhi, Abhijit Banerjee said: "Sooner we exit lockdown the better, but the spread of the disease has to be taken into consideration." He insisted on "putting money into people's hands, as the current US administration is doing" and called for temporary ration cards for those in need to tackle food crisis. Banerjee also called for a large stimulus package to tackle the coronavirus outbreak in the country. "India needs a stimulus package, we have not dedicated on large enough financial package yet," he said.
