Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 26: Congress president, who would be returning from his Europe tour on Monday, is scheduled to visit flood-hit Kerala on August 28.

The Gandhi scion would be arriving in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. Subsequently, he will be heading to Chengannur, Alappuzha and Angamaly -- the three districts which have incurred massive losses in the floods.

On Wednesday, the final day of his visit, he would be taking stock at the relief camps in the hilly Wayanad district, which was the worst affected by the incessant rains followed by floods.

While the Congress chief has so far trained the guns at the Centre for failing to declare the floods in Kerala as a 'natural disaster', the state unit of the party has also condemned the Left Front government, accusing it of failing to minimise the impact of the calamity.

The death toll, meanwhile, has jumped to 302 in Kerala as a few among the rescued victims succumbed to injuries and diseases at the relief camps and makeshift hospitals.

A total of 10 lakh people in the state have been displaced. Although they are gradually returning back to their homes, the task remains cumbersome as most their houses have been washed away. The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for those who have lost their homes.
