New Delhi, June 21: All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Rahul Gandhi in a tweet mocked the Indian Army, International Yoga Day and Dog unit of the Army. In the latest, the Congress President on Friday  tweeted an elite dog unit of Army and their handlers performing exercises on the occasion of International Yoga Day 2019 on June 21, Friday. The photo was tweeted with a caption "New India", which is one of the most popular slogans of Narendra Modi government. In the picture, the canines who normally engage in serious tasks were seen performing yoga with their trainers. The Congress President's tweet paved way for criticism from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Tejasvi Surya. "Ok. He still hasn't learnt his lessons. In one go, he has insulted our Army, brave Jawans, the incredible dog unit, Yoga tradition & our country," he said in a tweet, adding, "I feel really sad for all the young Congress workers (if there are any left) that they have to deal with this man as their leader."

Meanwhile, according to reports, Rahul Gandhi has expressed his desire to step down from the party president post following the loss in recently held 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. The grand old party won just 52 of the 543 seats, while the BJP won 303 seats in the lower house of the parliament.
