Earlier, the Wayanad MP had attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government for rising crimes against women. "You have seen the increase in violence across the country. Lawlessness, atrocities against women. Every day we read about a girl getting raped and molested."
Gandhi's remark comes after a young veterinarian was gang-raped and killed in Hyderabad by four people and the recent Unnao incident, where the rape victim was set ablaze by accused. She later succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Delhi.
